Marching Order

When I had my first communion as a converted Lutheran ( I was born of the Anglican faith) back in 2003, in what is today, Messiah Cathedral, Afaha Ibesikpo, the last thing I conceived was to see the monumental and unprecedented transformation, of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, as itis currently. Its evolution smacks of the stage spectacle, yet, it is recognizably real and inspired.

As part of the ongoing repositioning of the Church, the imminent resurgence of The Lutheran Herald became a mission that must be accomplished, as the National President and Archbishop of the Church, His Grace, The Most Rev. Christian Ekong gave the marching order. Armed with the enthusiastic notice, this revival edition comes with a cover story opening with more than a self interrogation and critique of his (Archbishop Ekong’s) stewardship.

In this explosive interview, where he bared his mind, sincerely, without equivocation or censorship, we report on the evolving church, its development, the principals responsible for it and the possible impacts on Lutherans and Christendom. Every child of God needs have a copy of this vintage outing of The Lutheran Herald as collectors’ item of his Library. It will remain a sustainable guiding compass to navigate, pilgrim with; and unravel the mission and vision of Archbishop Ekong’s era as the overseer of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria. Let me sincerely thank members of the Publications and Editorial Board of the Church, ably led by National President Emeritus, The Rev. (Dr.) Samuel J. Udofia for their tirelessness in ensuring this dream comes true. To God be the glory.
